FAQ – BBS RS and RM Wheels
What is the difference between RS and RM wheels?
Around the centre nut the RM has a dimpled ring whereas on the RS the lattice
section continues through to the centre nut.
How do I tell what the model no. is on my wheels?
The code is stamped up under the centre cap e.g. RM XXX and RS XXX
Are there differences in the RS wheels?
There are many, with over 250 RS options available, normally centre bore and
pcd.
What sizes do the RM and RSs come in?
RM's are in 15" with a very limited amount in 16" in BMW and Mercedes
fitment, and RS' from 15" up to 18"Diameters.
Can I change the dishes on all BBS wheels? Why
or Why not?
Dishes can only be changed on split rims (2 and 3piece wheels)
Some BBS wheels the centre bolts into the barrel, which the dish and barrel
is all one part. The BMW RC041 for example.
How wide can I go on a MK1,2,3,4,5 Corrado etc?
As wide as you want, from 6.5" up to 9.5 and beyond - but bear in
mind you will need to do arch modifications if you go wide. This MUST be considered
when purchasing your wheels. Your ET changes and reduces the wider you go!
What finishes are available and you do?
Our standard finish is metallic silver powder coating but we can powder coat
in various colours. We also offer full polishing and chrome plating.
What badge colours do you sell?
We offer genuine BBS badges in various colour combinations (see site for pictures)
Are there different size badges?
The sizes are 56,70 and 80mm
What size fits what wheels?
70mm fit RM,RS and some LM wheels,56mm fit Polo GTI,Mk 3 VR6,late Mk2
and some LM's .The 80mm fit RC's from the Mk4 Anniversary
What colour bolts are available?
We can supply chrome, gold plated, gold finish and stainless steel.
Is there a minimum or quantity?
There is a minimum order of 10 bolts.
Do you sell the bolts tools for the various wheels?
We supply the tools to remove bolts for BBS RS/RM and OZ.
What size dishes do you do and in what steps?
From 1" up to 4.5" (depending on which wheel size) and they step
accordingly. Note our dishes are direct replacement and do not step like originals.
Do you have stainless steel dishes? In what sizes?
We were the first company in the UK to offer stainless steel dishes (November
2004) and supply them from 1" up to 4.5" again depending on which
diameter wheel – call or email us to make sure.
Where are your dishes made?
Germany, first grade quality only!
Are your dishes Radinox?
Radinox is a name patented by Schmidt for stainless steel dishes. Ours are
of exceptional quality first grade stainless steel.
Can you fit the parts you sell?
YES if you send us your wheels.
How do you make your wheels?
ALL our wheels are CUSTOM made to the customers specification. You are not
buying an off the shelf set. We provide the original fitments in VW, BMW,
Porsche, Mercedes and Audi fitments.
As a custom wheel, what can I have done to them?
You tell us what you want and we will build them to your specification. Many
options available.
Do you send your parts overseas?
YES we ship worldwide.
Do you sell all parts for these wheels?
Yes we sell every component part for split rims apart from the centres.
How do I measure the dish size of my wheels?
The most accurate way is to stand the wheel on its end and measure in between
the 2 highest points then deduct the dish from the barrel or vice versa. (See
below).
Can you fit the parts you sell?
Yes
we can but this is chargeable and will be assessed against requirements.
Do your prices include tyres?
No, but we can if you require it.
If I order a set of centre caps – can I specify
the badge colour?
Yes you can.
Are all your centre caps one size fits all? If not what are the differences
and what do you need to know from you to supply the correct ones?
No because there are differing centre bores. Our custom centre caps fit
VW, Porsche and Mercedes. Please contact us for other fitments.
Do you sell original centre caps?
Yes, for both RS and RM. We also offer the outer ring / "lattice ring" for
15", 16" and 17" RS's in limited quantities.
If you are given the model number of the wheel can you tell me the dish size
and barrel size?
YES we have a very comprehensive technical fitment list.
Can I change the bolts on my wheels a few at a time without splitting them?
We do not recommend it as you may probably break the seal and air will leak.
Do you take wheels or parts in part exchange?
No we do not I’m afraid.
